Oppo Find N: Price, Specs, Pros, and Cons.

Oppo Find N is here!

The Oppo Find N is a stunningly designed foldable smartphone. We know the market for folding phones has exploded in only a few years. OPPO, a global smart technology company, has finally announced its first foldable flagship smartphone, the OPPO Find N. It is an intriguing smartphone. The Find N is like a little phone that opens up to look like an iPad mini. That’s incredible! Here I’ll give a hands-on review on Oppo Find N: price, specs, pros, and cons.

The company has spent a lot of time and work building a smarter foldable smartphone, experimenting with different form factors, hinge designs, display materials, and aspect ratios to create a new product that caters to a wider audience. Oppo’s first foldable device, the Find N, was released on December 15th. It promises to address two of the biggest folding phone pain points: removing the display gap and drastically reducing the visible crease. It’s one of the more striking folding designs so far, and it’s backed up with a long list of flagship specs.

Let's dive into the Oppo Find N: Price, Specs, Pros, and Cons.

Design and handling

The Find N is a stunning smartphone. There are a few characteristics that stick out right away i.e;  the unusual size, the gapless design, and the all-glossy finish. OPPO’s unique water droplet hinge design overcomes some of the most common bottlenecks in foldable smartphones by raising the display’s bend angle and providing a buffer when the display is folded, resulting in minimum folds that are 80 percent less apparent than other devices. When folded, this design almost eliminates the gap between screens, resulting in a more integrated look and improved scratch protection for the inside display.

The internal display has a landscape aspect ratio, which allows users to quickly transition between an immersive 7.1-inch internal display and a 5.49-inch exterior display, giving a full smartphone without losing size or functionality.

Oppo Find N supports dynamic 120Hz, HDR10+, and has  370ppi sharpness. the Find N sports an interior selfie camera with a punch-hole rather than an under-screen one. Because of the 8.4:9 aspects ratio, the internal pivots directly to landscape mode, allowing you to watch movies, play games, and read books without having to rotate the device.

Of course, the Find N has a second screen on the outside. It’s a 5.49-inch AMOLED with 402ppi density and Gorilla Glass Victus protection that’s practically bezel-less. Its high pixel density makes it excellent for regular browsing, phone calls, emails and text messages, etc. Both screens support a broad color gamut, are similarly calibrated for excellent color matching, and have a peak brightness of up to 1000nits. It weighs 275g.

Oppo Find N  has a wide range of connection options. The Qualcomm® Snapdragon TM 888 Mobile Platform powers the smartphone, which has up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. The huge 4500mAh battery lasts all day, and the 33W SUPERVOOC Flash Charge can charge up to 55 percent in 30 minutes and 100 percent in 70 minutes.

Oppo Find N:  Specs

Find N is available in three colors. The black variant blends a subtle and excellent shimmer effect on the base layer with glossy, frosted glass and a new film lamination method. The White variation is inspired by a white ceramic glaze, with glossy glass and a refined texture that complements the camera’s ceramic plate for a constant feel. The Purple version is designed to look like a high-end perfume bottle, with numerous layers of bespoke film used to give the appearance of light and shadow with a translucent texture.

The Find N is a lot of fun. So, let’s move on to more vital matters starting with the unboxing.

The Oppo Find N: Unboxing

It comes in a huge black luxury packaging. Unfortunately, despite its vast size, the only accessories included are a 33W power converter and a USB cable. The Oppo Find N looks fantastic. It’s a foldable smartphone with a dual-glass design with an aluminum frame and hinge. A flat Gorilla Glass Victus sheet covers the screen, while a slightly curved Victus sheet covers the rear panel.

Oppo Find N has two selfies and three rear cameras. It has a triple-camera setup on the back which, thanks to the outside screen, can also be used for selfies. There are two identical selfie shooters on the outside and inner displays, both hidden behind perforations.

The 32MP Sony IMX615 1/2.8″ sensors with Quad-Bayer color filters and 0.8m pixels are used in both selfie cameras. The lenses are also identical, with an f/2.4 aperture on both. Of course, the focus is fixed.

In the primary camera a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor, a 1/1.56″ Quad-Bayer imager with 1.0m pixels is used. The lens is stabilized at 24mm f/1.6.

The Sony IMX481 sensor, which measures 1/3.06″ and has 1.0m pixels, powers the ultrawide camera. The focus of the ultrawide camera is fixed at infinity behind a 14mm f/2.2 lens.

A 13MP Samsung S5K3M5 1/3.4″ sensor with 1.0m pixels and an f/2.4 52mm lens for 2x optical zoom is used in the telephoto camera.

Oppo has also designed a new custom keyboard with split mode.

It also features 15W AIRVOOC wireless charging (Qi-compatible) and 10W wireless reverse charging. OPPO Find N includes a side-mounted fingerprint reader located in the power button, as well as a dual-speaker system and Dolby Atmos support for more realistic sound.

Oppo Find N software Innovation

The foldable device’s great software takes advantage of the new form factor to provide consumers with a unique smartphone experience. The Find N’s internal display is 7.1 inches, which is 60% larger than the conventional 6.5-inch display, allowing for a more immersive experience and greater room for software innovation in multitasking and productivity use cases.

When using a compatible app, slide two fingers across the screen to divide it in half, or squeeze a full-screen window with four fingers to make it float. Traditional split-screen operations such as long-pressing and dragging-and-dropping relevant icons are also supported by the OPPO Find N, and you can save commonly used split-screen combinations for different apps on your home screen.

The OPPO Find N’s software was created to allow users to smoothly switch between the two screens. When the phone is unfolded, content from the external screen can easily be transferred to the primary internal display. The user can swipe up on the lid screen to access the same functionality on the outer screen when the device is folded. Increased productivity is further aided by a choice of keyboard configurations for the large internal display, including a split keyboard that makes it easier to enter text with two thumbs.

Let's look around the closed Find N

On the top and bottom, there are microphones; the lower one is utilized for calls. The USB-C connector, SIM slot, and two speakers are also present at the bottom. When the Find N is closed, the speakers are quite close together, making stereo separation difficult. Even when fully unfolded, the speakers are either at the bottom or on one of the sides, and the stereo impression isn’t really convincing. The hinge is on the left side, and when you open the Find N, it disappears altogether.

On the right, you’ll find the volume control and the power/lock key. The fingerprint scanner is constantly on and is located on the power key. It’s quite convenient to have the volume control on the left side and the power key on the right when using the Find N unfolded.

However, because the volume and lock keys are adjacent to one other when the Find N is folded, it is troubling to hit the power key and its fingerprint reader. This closeness, on the other hand, is ideal for taking screenshots.

Finally, let’s talk about handling. Both folded and unfolded, the Find N is pleasant to use however its glossiness makes it slippery. Don’t get me wrong: the design is stunning, but the only way to open the Find N is to use the volume rocker and matte lock key as thumb rests and apply pressure to separate the two parts.

Oppo Find N Pros and Cons

  • Better Camera specifications
  • Slightly larger battery and faster charging rate
  • More affordable than other available options
  • Ergonomic Design and New Flexion Hinge
  • Slippery
  • There is no ingress protection
  • Still pretty expensive

In conclusion, the Oppo Find N’s size and design are both attractive and distinctive however grip and the way to open the Oppo Find N could be improved.
